How to interpret this histogram:
About two-thirds of the class passed the final exam, with the majority doing
really well --- about 20% getting a B, another 20% getting an A- or A, and
almost 5% of the class who got A+.
There was 65% of the class we did better on the final exam than one or both of the midterms, and therefore had a raised midterm mark as a result. On average, the increase added 3% to the course grade for these students, but there were about a handful of cases who had a 9% increase to the course grade due to an improved final exam mark.
Criteria to Pass this Course: You must achieve 50% or above in the final exam to pass the course.
Criteria to Take COSC 121: You must achieve 60% or above in the course.
